Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to Kindergarten! My name is Morah Yelena Maksumova and I will be your child’s English and Judaic Studies teacher this year. I am looking forward to a year full of fun and learning!
Our English and Judaic Studies curriculum is taught throughout the day which begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On Friday, our day will begin at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 1:00 pm. Attendance is extremely important and your child is expected to be in school every day. If your child is absent, please send a note to school when they return explaining why.
The Kindergarten curriculum is academically challenging but developmentally appropriate. Kindergarten is an exciting time, as the children will embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. This is a year of important academic and social growth. The day will consist of independent and group work, projects, and hands on activities. In order for your child to make consistent progress throughout the year they must complete all homework assignments. Please encourage your child to read with you every day, if possible. The more a child is exposed to language, the easier it will be for him/her to incorporate new skills in reading and writing in the classroom.
I look forward to working alongside you and your child to ensure that they are successful and reach their goals. Every child learns at their own pace and it is very important that you applaud their accomplishments, no matter how small they may seem. Maintaining each child’s self-esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain a priority in our kindergarten class.
Enclosed you will find a copy of the kindergarten supply list. Please make sure your child has these supplies as soon as possible.
If your child is enrolled in the After School Program, the program begins at 4:30 and goes until 6:00 p.m. from Monday through Thursday. Please note after school begins on Monday September 16th.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. You can call the school anytime and leave a message with the office or send me an email at [email protected]
I look forward to meeting all of you and answering any questions you may have during Back to School Night on Thursday, September 12st!
Your Kindergarten Teacher,
